Heartbeat...Heartache...Hallelujah
My heart is heavy today. The Heartbeat Bill was just passed in the State of Ohio. I could not be happier! Praise God! I think of the ramifications of this bill and all the things that I hope it will do to save the lives of unborn babies.
Then I had a conversation with a friend and I stopped in my tracks. My friend told me that this is a grey area for her, she said that she didn't think that the government should tell us what we can and can't do. We should be able to decide if we want to walk through a situation or not. No one should force us to go through something if we don't want to do it.
My heart went out to her but I just couldn't agree. God has a purpose for every life. He is the giver of life and contrary to what others think I don't believe that he takes life away (this is a deeper discussion for another time but the enemy, the prince of this world is always trying to steal, kill and destroy). He is a giver, not a taker and who am I to decide whether someone should live or die. I don't believe God makes mistakes. We may not understand (I mean we aren't God) but I don't always have to understand. I trust God to make the decisions, even when it hurts or makes no sense to my human mind. But how many times have I looked back on my life and seen the inner weaving of the Holy Spirit (Psalm 31:24).
I DO NOT know...
I don't know what it's like to lose a child. It's not something I have experienced. I can only sympathize. I can only think about the pain it would cause if I lost my only son and that is only thought, not experience. I don't know everything and don't pretend to.
Here's what I DO know...
Jesus makes beauty from ashes.
God restores what is lost.
The Holy Spirit gives us comfort and peace in EVERY situation.
Testing builds character.
The love of God is never ending, unfailing, relentless.
I can lean into Him and he upholds me.
ONLY Jesus can set me free from pain.
I'm not fighting FOR victory, I'm fighting FROM victory.
EVERY life has purpose, meaning and is precious to God.
